A look from above. Wanda Rutkiewicz Archive

30.01.2024 / Tuesday / 6.30 pm

This time we are facing a meeting around ecology. Wojtek Klapcia will talk about the impact of the outdoor industry on the environment.
We will discuss, among other things, abandonment as the cleanest form of reducing environmental impact, greenwashing, logistical challenges or upcycling over recycling.

Surprises and challenges will await the participants of the last meeting with Wojtek Klapcia!

At the end of the last meeting, those willing to participate will be able to try their hand at the sleeping bag packing time competition, and there will be in-kind prizes from the exhibition partner waiting for those with the best score. The current all-time records to be broken are: 31″20 sec for ladies and 21″86 sec for men.

Meeting translated into Polish Sign Language.
Admission - 1 zloty

Events in February to accompany the exhibition:

20.02.2024 - Janusz Borowiec, Majesty: On eco-responsibility in the production of mountain hiking equipment. Case study of the Skis Re//Defined competition.
/ level -4, Auditorium, 6:30 pm / Meeting translated into PJM
Tickets: PLN 1

Janusz Borowiec - founder of the Gdansk-based Majesty brand, a dedicated skier and freeskiing advocate with a passion for shaping trends in the ski market. He will talk about eco-responsibility and the eco-manifesto guiding the brand, which is a leader in the production of freeride skis and the organizer of the Skis Re//Defined contest. The goal of the contest is to promote the idea of upcycling, i.e. giving a second life to used skis, so that the product is no more valuable than the raw materials used in its production. Participants in the competition, by presenting their ideas in the field of applied design, contribute to reducing the consumption of natural resources and reducing waste as much as possible.

27.02.2024 - Jan Krzysztof, Tatra Voluntary Rescue Service: risk assessment in the mountains - let's start with the Tatras
/ level -4, auditorium, 6:30 pm / Meeting translated into PJM
Tickets: PLN 1

Jan Krzysztof - head of the Tatra Voluntary Rescue Service, with which he has been involved for more than 20 years. The lecture will include an introduction to the subject of avalanche danger in the Tatra Mountains and methods of risk assessment during winter activity in the field. To be able to take full advantage of these methods, it is necessary to deepen the subject on specialized avalanche courses, but we hope that this introduction will encourage those interested in winter tourism and ski mountaineering in the broadest sense.
