Traditional crafts vs. modern craftsmen

In the modern era, craftsmanship is becoming a unique occupation, and artisans, often taking over the trade from previous generations, are struggling with the market situation, the decline in interest in retail, good, but also not cheap work. However, they are persistent and run their businesses with passion. Shoemakers, bookbinders, luthiers, watchmakers, bakers, tailors - it is worth talking about them, reminding them of their existence, the historical role they played in creating the city space, but also the position they occupationally represent today.

Marcin Muth has been documenting the work of craftsmen and the everyday functioning of their studios and workshops for several years. The exhibition, which will open on September 23 at the Gallery at the Gate, is a photographic record of the work of Poznan craftsmen, their everyday struggles with professional matter and the focus and passion they put into their profession.

The project was financed from the budget funds of the City of Poznań #poznansupports
