Description

We have not yet had such an anthology of source texts about photography in Poland. Therefore, one must bow very low to the Poznan author and authors, the work they have done deserves great respect. Just as the title informs, we finally have in one place almost everything that has been written about photography in Poland from the beginning of the invention of our medium to the end of the People's Republic of Poland. The three main parts of the volume are by each of the authors.

Witold Kanicki prepared Part I - The beginnings of photography in journalistic, artistic and scientific discourse 1839-1903, Maciej Szymanowicz compiled Part II - The basic paradigms of Polish photographic theory from 1900-1955, and the work is crowned by Dorota Luczak, who edited Part III - Photography in the discursive network from 1955-1989. The book is supplemented by a Bibliography, Index of persons and Index of photographic techniques.
