The Plein Air Festival - Understand Photography, was created for people who want to learn more about the photographic medium: watching, searching and photographing.
The festival invites you to see in photography a medium that allows you to tell stories, experience emotions and share different points of view. It allows you to create art to better understand yourself, others and reality.
The artists presenting their works and experiences during the Festival include mature, prominent artists, as well as photographers who will confront their work with the public for the first time. Audiences who are learning photography and want to deepen their skills will be invited "to the background" of the exhibitions and series presented. All events, therefore, will have an educational value.
The aim of the Festival is to support practitioners in creating and viewing art photography, in better understanding it. Precisely "understanding," not "understanding," because this is a process that is ongoing and changes along with the medium itself.
The festival is organized by Karol Krukowski (Karol on photography) in cooperation with the IN SITU Foundation for Contemporary Art, which runs the Sokolowsko Cultural Laboratory.
Entrance to exhibitions and events is free.
ACCESS
If you are not going to Sokolovsk by car, you first need to get to Walbrzych.
From Walbrzych to Sokolovsk goes city bus No. 15 from the stop Nowy świat - Plac Grunwaldzki (hours: 5:31, 15:00, 17:00 and 19:51). You can also use private buses (cash payment).
NOCLEG

We recommend private accommodations in Sokolowsk, Kowalowa, Mieroszow and Łączna. You can also live further away and commute. You can find accommodations on booking and airbnb. There are no campgrounds in Sokolowsk.
FOOD
In Sokolovsk catering offer, do not worry about your meal. We especially recommend excellent dinners and breakfasts, including for vegetarians at the Radosno resort.
