Relationship Obsessions at Centrala Gallery

March 18, 2023 / 6:00 pm / exhibition until April 15, 2023 / Galeria Centrala ul. Pl. Cyryla Ratajskiego 6A, Poznań

Marta Szyszka

Exhibition RELATIONSHIP OBSESSIONS  presents the works of female photographers from Poznan who work in various forms of photography. Summing up a year of joint creative work at the Photo Sabbath, the artists will show four individual stories. Photo Sabbaths are cyclical meetings aimed at women involved in photography that address topics important to the participants. Through the trust built up in the group, a creatively intense atmosphere has been developed.
These are four different looks as the artist creates material imprinting also on herself by obsessively looking at relationships. Among other things, we will see photographs depicting the relationships of the mother
and her adolescent daughter and the entry of both into two separate female worlds (Marta Szyszka).
We will experience a story shown in staged photographs and collages addressing the theme of memories of the mother to neutralize difficult childhood experiences (Kasia Chlebowska).
We will also take a look at the artists in the analog portraits, created during personal meetings in places important to them, when the photographer and the photographed swap roles looking at each other (Justyna Smidowicz-Cegła). Finally, we will enter the world of a group of female artists co-creating a photographic sabbatical. Gestures, hands, faces have become the leading motif of photographs showing bodies in unreal forms (Anka Gregorczyk).
The exhibition will be accompanied by an author meeting and guided tours, details of which will be available on the organizers' website.
