Monika Piotrowska invites you to a story about Helena Hulewicz, a photographer from 130 years ago

A meeting promoting a new videopodcast by Monika Piotrowska, head of proFotografia and author of "Fotografia Quarterly," will begin this Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 6 pm at the Raczynski Library in Poznan. Title of the podcast and meeting: A nice beast. Helena Hulewiczova - amateur photographer.

In the amateur environment of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, women were like exotic birds. They left when children appeared and time was devoured by household chores. But not Helena. She was approaching 30 and was already the mother of five children when she requested a camera from her husband. She certainly had a talent for portraits. Monika Piotrowska, an art historian and critic from the proFotografia Institute Foundation in Poznan, will talk about Helena and her colorful life from an early age, based on reading numerous photographs from family albums and some materials from the Raczynski Library. This is a promotion of a new podcast in the series "Lessons in Reading Photography," available through Multimedia proFotografia https://www.profotografia.pl/portal/do-pobrania/ and directly on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC56VRV5Eww_3SrX6Zbj5pqg.

On the proFotografii there are several photo video podcasts worth watching, including those about Tadeusz Cyprian, Emilia Mirska, Sally Jaffé, or a video about the legendary for Poznan's artistic and literary circles cult first "Cruise of painters and poets", which took place in 1996 on the Slesinski Canal on the ship "Dziwożona".
