The Bridge Gallery invites you to the opening of a photo exhibition:

The theme of time and its passing has always been present in art. The need to explore, to get to the foundations of our roots, as well as the desire to refresh our memories, is natural for us, although we do not often have the opportunity to see the interpretation of this issue in such a personalized form.

Any conscious attempt to dig into our life history can work on us therapeutically. Often, when we reach back into our memories, we attempt to reanalyze our experiences, and more often than not, we instinctively repress what used to bother us.

In this case, was the attempt to go back in time an attempt to hide the self from those years?

Delving into what is irretrievably gone was an irresistible impulse for Iwona. On the basis of scraps of the past years, now saved only in old photographs, a very interesting personal series of works was created. Highly praiseworthy is the very creative way of interpreting these memories, a considerable positive complement to the whole is the conscious use of the author's archaic technique, which undoubtedly fit perfectly into the content of the photographs presented, while creating a unique atmosphere of this presentation.

Old family albums have accompanied me since childhood. From an early age, I used to look through them with my grandparents. Back then, I would ask questions and get answers. I identified with the characters in these photographs.
Now, at almost 50 years old, I am very moved to return to these images. Being exposed to them since childhood, they have grown into me. They are part of my everyday life. I have adopted them as my own. They form my seemingly ironclad life foundation.
For some time now, I have begun to wonder if and how much... my subconscious need to place myself in these roots has contributed to rewriting the history of the framing characters to suit my needs. How much truth is there in my perception of my own rooting?
Time obliterates ... and hides what is inconvenient. Time ... erases into oblivion. Time creates new ones.

Icons are created ... Icons.
