Joel Meyerowitz (born in New York in 1938 ) is one of the best-known street photographers of his generation, a pioneer and promoter of color photography, an influential publicist and teacher. He is the recipient of many awards, including the Royal Photographic Society's Centennial Medal, a National Endowment for the Arts award and a two-time Guggenheim Fellow. He has published more than 30 books and is the author of numerous tutorials and films on photography. His work, shown in more than 350 exhibitions around the world, has entered the collections of museums such as MoMA, Whitney Museum of American Art., Tate Modern and many others. Joel Meyerowitz continues to be an active photographer. He lives in New York and in Tuscany.
