Description
Mariusz Forecki - I am a photographer and author of books. For many years I have been photographing human beings caught up in socio-political processes (Afghanistan, Armenia, Chechnya, Dagestan, Lithuania, Ukraine, Autonomous Jewish District in Russia). I have participated in the Noorderlicht festival in the Netherlands, the Biennale of Photography in Prague, the Month of Photography in Bratislava, the Biennale of Photography in Poznan, the KAUNASPHOTO festival in Kaunas, among others. I co-founded (with Grzegorz Dembinski, Andrzej Marczuk and Wojtek Sienkiewicz) published documentary photography magazine 5klatek.pl from 2006-2011. I am a graduate of the Institute of Creative Photography at Silesian University in Opava, Czech Republic and co-founder of the PIX.HOUSE Foundation. I have won many awards in press photography competitions. I am a winner of the Artistic Award of the City of Poznań, a distinction of the Association of Polish Artists Photographers, a scholarship holder of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. I teach documentary photography at the Wrocław School of Photography.
Mariusz Forecki was, after Bogdan Konopka and Andrzej Jerzy Lech, the third photographer invited to create his portrait of the city and municipality of Września, i.e. the Września Collection, a long-term photographic project whose patron is the City and Municipality of Września. Every year, from 2009 to the present, one artist photographer (or duo) creates his series, and the project culminates in an art book and exhibition.
