Opera cliché
May 25, Saturday / 16:00 / Museum of Photography in Krakow / 22A Rakowicka St.
What are memories? A captured image of places we've been or been to? A word or sound that fell into our ears and has stayed there forever? Or perhaps a synthesis of both?
To find answers to these questions, we invite you to the inauguration of a series of meetings, organized together with the Museum of Photography in Krakow. The first of these will feature Krakow Opera soloists Zuzanna Caban and Jaroslaw Bielecki, accompanied by Matteo Zola at the piano.
The "Opera Cliché" concert, which will take place in the glass-walled MuFo pavilion, will feature excerpts from operettas and other popular melodies. Meanwhile, the musical feast will be followed by a tour of the temporary exhibition "To be like Adam Karas."
Adam Karaś (1896 - 1986) - photographer, photojournalist and filmmaker - is an extraordinary figure on the cultural map of 20th century Krakow. Together with his brother, he founded the Karaś Brothers Film studio, making short films, and was also the owner of a unique photographic atelier, run first on Czarnowiejska Street and then on Szewska Street. A passionate designer and inventor, he was also the creator of unusual photomontages of the so-called "photorats." He was famous for his unconventional sense of humor, with which he tried to loosen up his models during photography.
