Michal Kość has created a photojournalistic record of socio-political events in the eastern borderlands of Poland. This is the surrounding reality, the world beside and around us. The images put together in pairs co-create a peculiar journalism, sometimes a little ironic, sometimes full of pathos, and sometimes gushing with humor. The added value here is the author's narrative, which uses the published photographs to draw the viewer into a kind of game. A game, in associating and tracing connections not only between the images viewed, but also between the images and the existing world.
Through the reporter's photographs, we look into a world not invented. The reality seen here is close at hand, happening all around us. In a certain juxtaposition, it creates a journalistic narrative and charts the signs of the times. Everything recorded in the photos is not the author's invention, but a reliable and insightful account of the events that occurred....
MICHAEL GOAT - photographer, photojournalist; member of the Union of Polish Art Photographers (ZPAF) and the Union of Polish Nature Photographers (ZPFP). He started out as a photographer at the Bialystok Polytechnic and the Podlaskie Museum. However, he quickly realized that photographing static objects was not the job for him, he was drawn to press and documentary photography. Since 1991, he has been continuously associated with regional and national media and Poland's largest press photography agencies.
His professional output as a photojournalist is rich and varied. His inspiration comes from current events, everyday life and, above all, people. His portfolio includes numerous publications in leading Polish newspapers and opinion magazines, women's and travel magazines. Another form of activity is participation in projects, press and nature photography competitions, collective and individual exhibitions.
After hours, his longtime passion is observing and photographing bison in the Knyszynska and Bialowieza Forests. Here he has developed his own distinctive style of photographing these majestic animals. Artistic photographs of bison are in many private collections in Poland.
