Maciej Bonk - naturalist with an analog soul
My first feeling after seeing some of the photographs sent by Maciej Bonk to the Youth Portfolio was: I want more! I immediately contacted the author with a request to send more photos, He sent, and so our eyes can enjoy longer.
Although the author is a young man, looking at his photographs I had the impression that his fascination with "nature" in the broadest sense, including that created by man, is very mature, deeply and sincerely felt. It is not the work of chance, a decisive moment, but the result of many years of contemplation of its manifestations. Bonk has, as they say, "an eye," he is able to perceive a photographic frame in what he sees, and then he reaches for the camera.
I was also very captivated by the fact that he uses an analog camera, which seems to him to be a more suitable, more appropriate device than a digital camera for capturing the visible world.
Here is what Maciej Bonk wrote about himself:
I am a biologist. On a daily basis I am engaged in nature conservation, the practice and scientific side of this activity. In addition, I am an amateur photographer. For me, photography is a way to look at the world in a different way, but most of all it is a method of remembering and telling. I especially like analog photos - unlike digital ones, they are not only a recording and interpretation. They are also almost a physical cast, a trace of light recorded on the emulsion of film or paper. This is especially meaningful to me when I photograph places that are important to me. Thanks to the photos, I am there more.
I wish you many photographic emotions and... hope you will send us new photographs in some time.

For the sake of accuracy, I will add that with a digital, although less and less lately, I also take pictures. Also, there are some in the article. Nevertheless, the analog process is more authentic for me. Enjoy your viewing!
