"Photography Quarterly" is back!
After a ten-year hiatus, here we are again. In a "slightly" different, because online form, but substantively the same. As in 2000-2012, we create our magazine out of love for photography and great respect for its creators, as well as for the work of those who write about photography - critics, historians and theorists of photography, whose articles we will include.
This formula, let's call it "uncompromisingly qualitative" will never be exhausted. Hardly - more and more people are fed up with superficial material about photography and are looking for a place where they can find quality content, both visually and textually, analytically, that is, what in the previous paper era of "Quarterly Photography" determined its success and later longing for "KF" for many years.
Wanting to stay the course on quality, we approached authors from 2000-2012 with a proposal to renew editorial cooperation. Many happily declared their willingness to continue working together. Unfortunately, we did not have the email addresses and phone numbers of all those who wrote for "Quarterly" years ago, so we realize that our invitation did not reach everyone. Today we are inviting you all to our online "bosoms". By the way, we invite not only our former authors, but also new authors, new faces. Already today, when we are just starting out, there are quite a few people in the editorial footer whose names are not widely known for the time being, but we very much hope for the next ones.
The world of photography is so diverse that there is really a lot to write about, and our aim has always been and still is to report on this diversity. We do not want to close ourselves in one concept of photography, we do not want to cut ourselves off from any trend. There is a place for everyone who has something interesting to say and show. Once again, we invite you.
We care very much about dialogue, about discussion. That, among other things, is the difference between a paper magazine and an online magazine. Paper is broadcasting in one direction, the Internet changes this model, allowing communication both ways. Every article published with us can be commented on, we trust that this opportunity will create interesting substantive discussions, which in time will become a value in itself of "Quarterly Photography". We invite you to comment. Kwartalnikfotografia.pl is supposed to be our common place for creators and lovers of photography, a place where we can all meet and talk about what is important to us.
As in the old days, we will rather avoid advertising and writing about the equipment, focusing instead on what can be done with the equipment.
Our service consists of several sections: Artists - is a presentation of the work of individual photographers or artistic groups; Essays - are analyses, summaries of current trends, trends in photography, as well as historical articles, discussions and reviews of exhibitions, festivals, as well as books and other photographic publications; Youth portfolio - This, in turn, is a section for beginners and debutants, no matter how old they are, it is important that they feel young; Archeo KF - In this section, we recall articles from the paper era of "Quarterly Photography." Events - here we announce exhibitions and other photographic events; Store - is a virtual photography bookstore and a virtual gallery that offers original, signed author's prints. Collecting photography in our country is becoming fashionable, it is developing, as evidenced, for example, by the turnover of Desa Unicum's Collector Photography, which is growing with each auction. More and more photographs are being sold there, and the prices of the works sold are also getting higher. Every photographer would like to sell their photographs, and preferably so many that they can make a living from it, or at least earn money to continue practicing photography. That's why we have created a place where anyone can put their photographs up for sale, and collectors can buy them.
Both photographic publications and some author's prints are available in two versions: paper and digital. Proceeds from the KF Gallery are the only source of funding for Quarterlyfotografia.pl. The editors take a small commission on sales.
We are not giving up on paper entirely. At least once a year - provided there are those willing to buy - we intend to print a paper version of "Quarterly Photography," as well as books and other publications, which we will notify on a regular basis.
We invite you to contribute to Kwartalnikfotografia.pl, to put up for sale your publications and photographs, to comment on articles.
