Contacts. Nature Time. Jelenia Góra School of Photography
Fotoformum Gallery in Dresden, Neustadter Markt 12 / Opening: November 29 (Friday), 6:00 pm / Exhibition runs until January 25, 2025..
We would like to invite you to the next installment of the series "Contacts", an exhibition that is related to the notion of ,,Jeleniogórska Szkola Fotografii" (Jelenia Góra School of Photography), which has been functioning for many years. This concept in Polish art criticism is synonymous with a return to traditional, noble craftsmanship, to photography, in which the important thing is the return to photography on film reflected in the photographic darkroom, without any digital interference. Only true photographic craftsmanship counts.
The Jelenia Góra School of Photography developed in Jelenia Góra at the foot of the Karkonosze Mountains in Lower Silesia. For years associated in Poland with traditional black-and-white classical photography, its environment has developed a peculiar and unusual in the contemporary world of photography. Since the 1980s, Jelenia Gora has also cultivated the idea of contact photography, which is created by contact printing a large-format negative onto photographic paper using the darkroom method, without enlargement or framing.
The exhibition ,,Contacts. Time of Nature. Jelenia Góra School of Photography," prepared by the BWA Gallery in Jelenia Góra, is the third installment of the series of classical photography exhibitions in the "Contacts" series, which the BWA Gallery has been implementing since 2019. The exhibition will be a story about the place of nature in the modern world. The essence symbolizing nature is the tree, as an entity existing on earth that transcends our human time and dimension of existence
The Dresden exhibition will feature historical photographs by the late masters and doyens of the Jelenia Góra School of Photography - Ewa Andrzejewska and Wojciech Zawadzki, in a separate small presentation, as well as photographic artists for whom black-and-white contact photography is the main means of artistic expression. We will see works by artists such as: Adam Bencal, Jaroslav Benes, Jerzy Chaberek, Monika Cichoszewska, Paulina Ćwiek, Slawoj Dubiel, Marek Gardulski, Maciej Herman, Jacek Jasko, Eugeniusz Józefowski, Ryszard Karczmarski, Marcin Kiełbiewski, Grzegorz Kukla, Andrzej Jerzy Lech, Adam Lesisz, Marek Liksztet, Marcin Masiewicz, Jurgen Matschie, Jacek Michalak, Tomasz Michałowski, Tomasz Mielech, Janusz Moniatowicz, Halina Morcinek, Dorota Mościbrodzka, Mariusz Mykicki, Krzysztof Niewiadomski, Marek Noniewicz, Marek Poźniak, Edward Pruchnicki, Tomasz Sidor, Wojciech Sternak, Rafał Swosiński, Marek Szyryk, Waldemar Śliwczyński, Jacek Ślusarczyk, Tomasz Walczak, Jan Zawadzki, Petr Zinke, Tadeusz Żaczek.
