Tomorrow was yesterday - an exhibition of students of the Film School in Lodz

Place: Large Room Gallery, 4/6 Warecka St., 00-030 Warsaw / Opening: September 11, 2024, 6:00 pm

The authors explore the importance of photographic archives in the context of contemporary life and their role in shaping memory. Rejecting the linear narrative typical of timelines and chronologies, they go beyond traditional perceptions of memories. Seeking new perspectives, they explored the meaning of traces of the past, the process of their disappearance, as well as the possibilities and limitations of their restoration. In the works presented, the filter of fantasy fills in the gaps in the perception of what was, influencing the interpretation and reception of what is and what is yet to come. Experiments combining traditional photography, often anonymous and found, with modern photographic techniques and contemporary visual canons and conventions, create room for creative development. This provides a space for in-depth reflection on the power and mystery of time, which seems invariably relevant.
