Exhibition of photographs by Małgorzata Mikołajczyk i_land can be read from the level of its title, as a retrospective juxtaposition of fragments of the real world in front of the lens. These are not artistically elaborated postcards from the author's travels to the Atlantic islands, whose character we get to know this way. For the most part, the exhibition is built up by frames with landscapes found in her personal sensitivity, which for us in those places would remain invisible. These abstract photograms with juicy, vivid colors invite the viewer on an island journey. They intrigue the viewer with their forms that evoke emotions and associations. This expressive potential is the key to a relationship with the viewer and extends the simple documentary nature of the photographic medium.

Travel as a creative inspiration is a popular archetype in culture. It turns out, however, that over time it ceases to matter how far we travel and what place we end up in. What becomes much more important is what we ourselves bring to a given place. When asked how the less obvious, abstract works are created, Malgorzata Mikolajczyk answered: Living and working in the urban world, I find my own landscapes. I extract their unique fragments from the obvious and ordinary, sometimes from the remnants of decaying objects or waste. Once photographed, they take on a new and different meaning, and how they look in photographs constantly brings the author the joy of creation.

Photographs from the series i_land created on the islands of Ireland and Iceland, are both landscapes of the imagination and peculiar visualizations of sensibility - Her Imagination Land.
