Talent of the Year 2025 - Results of the Jubilee Edition of the Photo Contest.

The tenth anniversary edition of the competition has ended Talent of the Year 2025 organized by the Pix.house Foundation. This year received 180 applications from talented photographers whose projects caught the attention of the jury. The high level of works, diverse subjects and photographic styles - from documentary to conceptualism - proved that photography remains one of the most important ways of telling the story of the modern world.

Talent of the Year is a competition for artists who want to develop their photographic projects. The competition is held annually in three categories, and the winners receive substantive and financial support to continue and develop their work.

Results of Talent of the Year 2025

After heated deliberations, the jury, consisting of: Anna Bedyńska, Karol Szymkowiak, Krzysiek Orłowski and Mariusz Forecki announced the winners in three categories: Scholar, Zincall i Curatorlab.

Scholar Category - Awards for Photographic Projects.

In category Scholar, which aims to support long-term photography projects, the awards went to exceptional artists who document important social issues in their work.

Winner - SHABAB /. الشباب / YOUTH

The author of the project (anonymous for security reasons) has been working on a long-term photography project in the West Bank of Palestine since 2018. His photo series tells the story of Palestinian children and youth growing up under military occupation, statelessness and trauma.

Prize: Scholarship of PLN 4,000 to complete the project.

Honorable mention - Aleksandra Wierzbowska - "Rivers of Conflict".

The "Rivers of Conflict" project documents rivers that flow through areas affected by social and political conflicts. Rivers become carriers of collective memory, witnesses to tragic events.

Prize: Scholarship of PLN 1000 and a set of Pix.house publications.

Honorable mention - Damian Wis - "Remedium".

The project documents the transformation of post-industrial landscapes on former lead and zinc smelter and mine sites, where ecological processes such as phytoremediation aim to clean up contaminated sites.

Prize: A stipend of PLN 1000 and a project consultation.

Zincall Category - Creativity in the Form of a Zine.

In category Zincall The winners received support for the publication of a zine or a small photo publication. This year, works that tell personal and universal stories were recognized.

Winner - Joanna Tyczynska - "Wyojcowanie".

"Wyojcowanie" is a personal photographic project telling the story of non-relationship with her father, whom the author only met when she was growing up. It's a story about a reckoning with the past and an attempt at self-therapy through photography.

Prize: Publishing a zine up to PLN 10,000 and an editing workshop.

Honorable mention - Tom Swoboda - "Watch out for shadows. They can grow teeth."

The project "Watch out for shadows. They can grow teeth" is a reflection on memory and storing memories in a subjective way, full of emotions and strong experiences.

Prize: Editing Workshop.

Honorable mention - Nela Dymopulos-Kusto - "It will be fine. It has to."

"It will be okay. It has to" is a project about fear, longing and hope in the face of a loved one's illness. The artist combines personal experience with social expectations of bereavement.

Prize: Editing Workshop.

Curatorlab category - Support for Exhibition Organization.

Category Curatorlab offers support in the organization of a photographic exhibition. Winners in this category were selected on the basis of projects ready for exhibition.

Winner - Marcin T. Józefiak - "Fearless Flowers."

"Fearless Flowers" is a project about identity, gender and sexuality in South Korea. The author focused on the issue of body acceptance and rebellion against conservative social norms.

Prize: Exhibition funding of up to PLN 6,000 and curatorial support

Honorable mention - Izabela Nowak - "There is an Earth called Mars".

"There is an Earth called Mars" is a project about childhood and memory, which combines the author's personal memories with the experiences of children with whom she comes into contact every day.

Prize: Editing Workshop.

Honorable mention - Justyna Lichota - "magazine-life".

"Magazine-Life" is a project that combines childhood memories with documentation of a changing family home, using photos and clippings from interior design magazines.

Prize: Pix.house publication set.
