Wielkopolska DOC
The call for entries for the newly launched contest for female photographers documenting the Wielkopolska region has started!
Wielkopolska DOC is a competition organized by the Provincial Public Library and Center for Animation of Culture in Poznan. The starting point for the formula is the need to open up to contemporary reality within the evolving medium of photography, in which the interpenetration of different styles and modes of imaging create the current landscape of perception and reading of photography. The idea of the competition is to combine reportage photography, documentary photography and that which transcends rigid categories in order to carefully observe the phenomena, events and processes of the Wielkopolska region. WIELKOPOLSKA DOC will play the role of an archive of locally occurring changes around us - in the region, town, neighborhood, community. Through exhibitions, publications and virtual services, it will also be a platform for the popularization of documentary and reportage photography, as well as the work of Wielkopolska photographers.
The competition has six thematic categories for which single photos or sets created in the Wielkopolska region can be submitted, from which prizes, honorable mentions and the Grand Prix Wielkopolska DOC 2023 will be selected:
- Events,
- Man,
- Climate and Environment,
- Culture and Communities,
- Sports,
- One-year/special category: Support and presence.
In addition, a separate category dedicated to long-term projects has been created (see the Competition Regulations for more information).
In the first edition of the contest, male and female photographers can submit entries created between November 1, 2021 and October 31, 2023.
More information, rules and regulations, and an application form are available at competition website.
