Layers - Konrad Dobrucki

Konrad Dobrucki's exhibition "Layers" inaugurates a series of presentations by young artists Project Room 2022/2023, as part of which they get a chance to realize an individual exhibition in one of the most important contemporary art institutions in Poland. In 2022 and 2023, the Project Room at the Center for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle will still see exhibitions by Daniel Dabrowski, Jagoda Stączek, Zuzanna Srebrna, the Tarta Collective and Agata Zolądź-Yolik Nal.

The artists were selected from among the candidates who responded to the open call announcement. The selection was made by a jury consisting of: Krystyna Różańska-Gorgolewska, curator at the Center for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle (chairwoman); Stanisław Brach, professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw; Rafał Łubowski, professor at the University of Arts in Poznań; and Grzegorz Wnęk, professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow.

Konrad Dobrucki was born in 1991. He graduated in philosophy from the University of Warsaw. After living in Iceland for many years, he has been living in Warsaw since 2020. He mainly works with documentary, relying on long-term work with the protagonist or subject. In his artistic work he uses analog photography and collage. He is primarily interested in describing human beings through their surroundings, architecture, habits and creations. He is a graduate of the Sputnik Photos Mentoring Program 2020/2021 and is currently studying photography at the Magdalena Abakanowicz University in Poznan.
