""White and Red" is a long-term social project of documentary filmmaker Marek Lapis, who uses the medium of photography to describe how the colors white and red function in the consciousness of society. In times of transformation and turbulent contemporary social and political changes, these colors take on special significance in public space. The photos that make up the publication "Biała-Czerwona", coming from about 200 trips across Poland, document not only official patriotic events imbued with pathos, but also various aspects of social life. The author is an astute observer of contemporary Polish society, presenting to our attention moments frozen in a fraction of a second: important, significant and those everyday, often unnoticed - he presents to us in an artistic form (...). Marek Lapis (1968), lives in Koziegłowy near Poznań. Member of the Union of Polish Artists Photographers. He works in documentary photography, reportage and broadly defined street photography, as well as advertising and corporate photography. Winner of prestigious photo contests including: the International Photography Awards 2013, Grand Press Photo, Leica Street Photo, BZ WBK PRESS FOTO, National Geographic Poland, Przetwórnia Project, Wielkopolska Press Photo - many editions, Tango in Lens, Polish Sports Photography Contest, Warsaw Photo Contest "Warsaw- dissonances and quarrels". Participant of prestigious workshops: Magnum Photos and Ryszard Horowitz Workshop: Art and Computers - Expanding Imagination. He has published in most Polish magazines and opinion-forming weeklies (Wprost, Polityka, Newsweek, Przekrój) and in foreign media including Time, Focus, The Sunday Telegraph, Reuters. Lecturer of photography workshops for the intellectually handicapped and originator and creator of an original program of workshops for the deaf. Since 1987, he has been the owner of his own Photo Agency ARTMEDIA (PRESSPHOTO). Since 2000, he has been working with FORUM, the Polish Agency of Photographers.
