Photo contest "Podkarpackie Iconosphere"
Schedule for the competition: May 26, 2022. - opening of the call, October 7, 2022 (11:59 pm) - end of the call, by November 17, 2022 announcement of the results of the competition.
Podkarpackie Voivodeship invites professional photographers and amateur photographers to participate in the 1st edition of the "Podkarpackie Iconosphere" photo contest. The theme of the competition in 2022 is the broadly understood technical culture of the Podkarpackie Province. Works can be submitted until October 7, 2022, with a total prize pool of PLN 15,000.
The theme of the 2022 competition is the broadly understood technical culture of the Podkarpackie region, exposing the unique features of the region's identity. The choice of the leitmotif is connected with the bicentennial of the birth of Ignacy Lukasiewicz - inventor, entrepreneur, philanthropist, independence activist, politician with his life and passion associated with the history of Poland and the lands of the present Podkarpackie province, which falls in 2022.
The source of photographic inspiration should be manifestations of technical heritage, including industrial heritage (e.g., buildings and machinery, factories and plants, mines, warehouses, transportation and its infrastructure, as well as places with a social function related to industry - residential buildings), engineering heritage (e.g. structures of buildings, bridges, roads, railroads, waterways, energy engineering, avionics engineering), technical heritage (e.g., technical and social work environment - organization of work, tools, collection of technical artifacts and technical museums), as well as the region's potential related to modern technology.
Jury of the competition:
Marek Grygiel - curator of Polish and foreign exhibitions, collections and programs dedicated to photography, juror of Polish and foreign photo competitions, author of articles on photography, publisher and editor of the magazine on photography "Fototapeta".
Paweł Żak - artist photographer, participant in individual and group photography exhibitions, his photos are in the collections of, among others, Bibliothèque nationale de France, the National Museum in Warsaw, the Center for Contemporary Art in Warsaw, the Art Museum in Lodz, lecturer at the University of Warsaw (Department of Photography and Journalistic Genology) and the ZPAF Photography Studio.
Arkadiusz Gola - artist photographer, photojournalist, participant in individual and group photography exhibitions, his photos are in the collections of, among others, the Silesian Museum, the Museum of the History of Photography in Cracow, the Museum of Art in Olomouc, lecturer at the Institute of Creative Photography at Silesian University in Opava.
Jerzy Skiba - president of the Rzeszow Photographic Association, organizer of photographic exhibitions at the "Unreal Gallery" of the Rzeszow Photographic Association, co-creator of local and international photographic projects.
Robert Godek - director of the Department of Culture and National Heritage Protection of the Marshal's Office in Rzeszow.
The total pool of prizes provided for in the competition is 15,000 PLN gross: grand prize: PLN 6,000 gross, honorable mentions PLN 3,000 gross each.
The first edition of the competition will be summarized in a post-competition exhibition to be held at the end of 2022.
Method of application
The contest participant sends a scan of the registration form, which is an attachment to the Regulations, and photographs in digital form with the technical conditions specified in the Regulations in the form of a link, such as to the WeTransfer service to the following e-mail address: kultura@podkarpackie.pl
