Description
A photographic story about the Warta River, which runs the title length from its source in Zawiercie-Kromołów to its confluence with the Oder River in Kostrzyn-on-Oder. The author visited with his heavy wooden 5 x 7-inch Wisner all the major towns and cities through which the Warta flows, looking for answers to questions about the human dimension of the ancient river: how people develop its banks, what activities they undertake, what the Warta is for people in general, so he is more interested in the cultural dimension of the river than in its natural shape or, more broadly, its landscape. In Volume II of the book, i.e. Part B, the author reports in a sometimes humorous way on his artistic and aesthetic struggles, as well as the adventures that befell the Sliwczynskis during the implementation of the project.
808.2 kilometers accompanied an exhibition of the same title at the 2015 Biennale of Photography in Poznan. In 2016, the book received the Triple Seal of Quality from Michal Nogas, and Waldemar Sliwczynski was a guest on the Triple Seal radio program.
