World Press Photo - 65th edition
The World Press Photo contest recognizes and rewards the best reportage and documentary photos of the past year*. During this year's edition, a special independent jury decided on regional winners in four categories: Singles, Stories, Long-Term Projects and Open Format. Twenty-four authors from 23 countries were awarded. The winners were selected from 64,823 images submitted by 4,066 photographers from 130 countries.
Among the 24 award-winning photographers, four global grand prizes will be selected in the categories of The World Press Photo of the Year, the World Press Photo Story of the Year, the World Press Photo Long-Term Project Award and the World Press Photo Open Format Award. The world winners will be announced on April 7 this year.
Joumana El Zein Khoury, executive director of the World Press Photo Foundation, about this year's competition: "It's exciting to see how the new regional competition has brought the changes we hoped for. Changes that we believe will bring different perspectives and a deeper connection to photojournalism and documentary photography from around the world."
