85. exactly that many days, lasted the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the Spanish island of La Palma. The eruption and the unexpected to the end direction of the flowing fiery torrent, caused the costliest natural disaster in the country's history. More than a thousand hectares of the island were flooded with lava, and under the cover of volcanic ash were not only thousands of homes, but also banana plantations, vineyards, and more than 7,000 people had to be evacuated. (...) The volcano, which was declared extinct, irrevocably destroyed the possessions of many people's lives, demonstrating man's powerlessness in the face of the element.
Exhibition 85 is the first solo exhibition of the author, this year's winner of the 3rd Grand Press Photo Award (CLIMATE, RESPONSIBILITY). Her photographs subtly and subjectively depict one of Spain's most severe natural disasters, engaging in a discussion of the difficult relationship between man and the forces of nature.

Freelance photographer. A student at the Institute of Creative Photography at Silesian University in Opava, Czech Republic. With a master's degree in chemistry, she works in the field of clinical research on a daily basis. She lives in Cracow, with family ties to Spain. Currently, her photography is mainly concerned with the relationship between man and nature. She is this year's winner of Grand Press Photo 2022, and her photos have been published in Polityka, National Geographic Poland, The Calvert Journal Magazine and the New York Post.
