From August 29, 2024, the Fort Institute of Photography in Warsaw will host an exhibition titled \"Urban Legends,\" which is a photographic project created on phantasmagorias by second- and fourth-year students of the Department of Photography at the Film School in Lodz (affiliated with the CECH Collective). The stories depicted go straight back to examples of the 20th century avant-garde, only to take a turn towards afterimages from horror films. The base for creating stories is the city of Lodz, inspiration is gossip, memes and fake news, and everything is connected by the world of perpetual renovation and construction works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CURATORIAL TEXT:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A city of conflicting emotions, hidden rivers, a city of machines and a thousand chimneys. A city of weaving stories floating between truth and myth... Heard or written down... Irrelevant. Before you are the stories absorbing this world. Our fantasies, dreams and nightmares, intertwined with observations of everyday life. We collectively experience this city, move through its nooks and crannies, breathe in its remarkable beauty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are experimenting. In our project, roles are lost. There are no specific names signed under light, set, frame. There is therefore a lack of authorship. There is only \"We\" - a conglomeration of different sensibilities, often extreme personalities and our common process. We resonate, we bounce off each other. We experience a river of creative energy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We found ourselves here - at a similar time, with similar goals and desires. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
