Obecnie w tw\u00f3rczo\u015bci Grill\u2019a inny kraj i inne czasy. Dlaczego wi\u0119c, w \u015blad za Walkerem Evansem, zwraca on uwag\u0119 na \u015blady pozostawione i nie posprz\u0105tane przez cz\u0142owieka? Grill\u2019a nie interesuje rozk\u0142ad i zaniedbanie. Jego interesuje cisza. Podczas podr\u00f3\u017cy po swoim kraju ameryka\u0144scy fotografowie byli \u015bwiadkami tego, jak w bezkresnej Ameryce pod cienk\u0105 warstw\u0105 burzliwego i kr\u00f3tkiego rozwoju kapitalizmu (jakie\u015b pi\u0119\u0107dziesi\u0105t lat, 1870-1920) znajdowa\u0142o si\u0119 \u017cycie \u201eprzed histori\u0105\u201d (postrzegane przez bia\u0142ych ludzi jako utrwalanie wy\u0142\u0105cznie swojej cywilizacji).
